THNNING EYELASHES

Most of my life I didn't really pay attention to the issue of wrinkles or expression lines. I never thought I had too many of them, but it could have been only a denial. Being 50+ now I thought I would try one of those eye creams with retinol to see if the expression lines around my eyes would diminish as all advertisements claim. So, I got the cream at the beauty counter and started my "therapy". Before I go any further I have to say I was always fortunate to have nice, long eyelashes which I really liked, and since 12 yrs old I always wore light makeup.

So, about two months ago, on Friday night, before bedtime, I took the makeup off and applied the eye cream which contained retinol. I went to bed with great hopes of transformation. I woke up the next day and ... didn't notice any difference in the state of my wrinkles. I thought, it was not enough time. I did the same treatment the next day. On Sunday, the third day, in the morning, I noticed a couple of eyelashes fallen out from around each eye, but I didn't give it much attention. All weekend I didn't wear the makeup to let the face rest and help the eye cream work. On Monday morning, the third day of using the retinol cream, I panicked... 1/3 of my eyelashes were GONE! I have washed my face immediately. I had to go to work, so I applied my regular, lite makeup. I never again used the retinol cream.

My eyelashes kept falling out for next 3-4 days, but just a couple per day. After about a week, they stopped falling out. The whole experience was absolutely terrifying. I didn't know if my eyelashes will ever grow back. Today, about 2 months later, my eyelashes have almost completely grew back. What a relief! Retinol may work on reducing wrinkles, but at the same time it may ruin the eyelashes. To me, this side effect was not worth using the product.  I'm back to my old, all natural, and well tested facial cream.

HEARTBURN

I find heartburn to be a nuisance. It does happen to me sometimes and to millions of other people every day. I know that acid reflux is considered a medical condition and that there are proscription drugs prescribed for it every day. For some people, and I met many of them, it happens every day. It is interesting that most people do not think about what is causing it… They just choose to pop a pill without giving a thought about side effects it may cause.

Well, there are certain foods that always cause the heartburn… all it takes is to take a notice after which foods the heartburn occurs and try to avoid them. Easy to say… In reality the heartburn sometimes just shows up out of nowhere. So what is the easiest way to take care of the discomfort it causes…? I found that the best way to instantly eliminate the heartburn are almonds. Just a few of them will take care of the problem in a minute. If the almonds are too hard to chew, an ounce or two of the almond milk brings an instant relief.

Another ways I found to cure the heartburn are:

1. Few drops of lemon juice mixed with 2-3 ounces of water with NO sugar. Sugar will just make it worse.

2. Aloe juice had always been my most versatile cure for many conditions, so I always have a jar of it in my fridge. Heartburn is one of them too. The heartburn just disappears as the juice goes down to the stomach. Quite amazing.

The best thing is that none of these cures have any side effects.

RESTLESS LEG SYNDROM - (RLS)

Anyone who suffers from RLS knows exactly how life disturbing it is. It can cause insomnia, fatigue, anxiety to just name the few. I have lived with RLS for at least 20 years and tried most everything to cure it and… nothing was 100% working, until recently.

After about ten years of living with RLS I finally realized that life is becoming more and more difficult and I have to do something about it. By design I do not take any medications. Side effects of those can cause more new problems then it is worth. With that said, my first attempt was to find what is actually causing RLS. For long periods of time I have made daily notes of what I ate, trying to come up with a list of foods that may cause RLS. I learned that there are few foods that may contribute to it. My non-scientific study showed that the sugar was the biggest culprit. Well, sugar is in most all foods… I do enjoy a glass of wine occasionally too, but alcohol also contributes to the RLS symptoms, so… what to do?? I thought, there has got to be a cure!

I did some research. I have tried vitamin B12 and folic acid therapy for about two months and that was very helpful. The symptoms diminished by about 50%. That was a huge relief. After two months I took 2-3 week break from B12 and folic acid and then started again. I did it for about 2 years. There were still the other 50% of times when RLS symptoms affected my life. I almost gave up on trying.

The RLS Cure

Several years passed and recently I had an idea. RLS is the nerve problem; the nerves need electrolyte to function properly. I decided to try plain kitchen salt. In the evening, when the RLS symptoms escalate, I dissolved a pinch of salt in 1-2 oz of water and drank it s-l-o-w-l-y, holding the liquid under my tongue for a minute or so before swallowing. To my great relief and highest gratitude, the symptoms completely disappeared in just few minutes. It took a drink of water with a pinch of salt to 100% cure my RLS problem.

Right now, except sometimes, I don’t even drink water with salt at night. I realized that all those past 20 years I didn’t take enough salt in with my food. It was simply the mineral deficiency that resulted with RLS. If you listen to most all sources out there, low sodium diet is the most recommended thing to do. Well… the nerves need salt to function. If the nerves don’t work – nothing else does. It’s important to not overdo the salt intake. A pinch is all that’s needed.

Today I simply use more salt in food during the day and the RLS is GONE. Now I know it is gone for good, and if by chance it shows up again… I’ll have the cure; a pinch of salt... it can't get more simple than that, and how effective!

In my readings I ran across the information that connected the RLS with Parkinson's disease. I really wonder if Parkinson's is also a manifestation of mineral deficiency...
